 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

و الصلاة و السلام على أشرف الأنبياء و المرسلين: سيدنا و حبيبنا محمد،

أما بعد:

 السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركته،

Hudhayfa (radhee Allah 'anhu) said:

"The people used to ask the Messenger of Allah salla Allah alayhi wa sallam about the good, but I used to ask him about the evil from fear that it would overtake me, so I said:

O Messenger of Allah! We used to be in jahiliyyah (ignorance) and evil, then Allah brought this good to us, so is there any evil after this good? He said: "Yes." I said: And is there any good after that evil? He said: "Yes, but it will be tainted." I asked: What will taint it? He said: "A people guiding with other than my Sunnah, you will approve of some (of their actions) and disapprove of others." I asked: Then is there any evil after that good? He said: "Yes! Callers to the Gates of Hell-Fire, whoever responds to them in that will be thrown into it." I said: O Messenger of Allah! Describe them to us. He said: "They will be from our own people and speak our language." I said: What do you order me to do if that should happen in my own lifetime? He said: "Stick to the Jama'ah (united-body) of the Muslims and their Imam." I said: What if they do not have a united-body nor an Imam? He said: "Then keep away from all those sects even if you have to bite upon the root of a tree, until death overtakes you and you are in that state." [Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]

       ********************

I always consider that anyone who begin to remove or decrease the size of his beard that life overtakes him, looking for pleasing people instead of pleasing Allah and obeying to His Command to the Prophet Muhammad salla Allah alayhi wa sallam to let grow his beard and to decrease the size of his mustaches, as the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam said. I am not surprise that those people implicated in the Da'wah, who themselves find difficult to apply the compulsory Sunnah of the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam of letting grow the beard, I am not surprised reading or hearing misguided speech from them, because either they knew the truth, then they turned away from it, or they just close their eyes if the truth appear to them. Anyway, we are not going to spend most of this refutation about this inshAllah...

 ********************

In his facebook post (see picture above), Suhaib Webb said that "the European Fatwa council [...] stated that "it is permissible to greet people on these days (exchange gifts even) as long as it does not involve approving any creedal differences between us, or open evil (drinking and so on)."

Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Ahkaam Ahl al-Dhimmah: "Congratulating the kuffaar on the rituals that belong only to them is haraam by consensus, as is congratulating them on their festivals and fasts by saying ‘A happy festival to you’ or ‘May you enjoy your festival,’ and so on. If the one who says this has been saved from kufr, it is still forbidden. It is like congratulating someone for prostrating to the cross, or even worse than that. It is as great a sin as congratulating someone for drinking wine, or murdering someone, or having illicit sexual relations, and so on. Many of those who have no respect for their religion fall into this error; they do not realize the offensiveness of their actions. Whoever congratulates a person for his disobedience or bid’ah or kufr exposes himself to the wrath and anger of Allaah."

********************

I add a part of what Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (rahimuhu Allah) said in "Majmoo'ah Fatawaa wa Rassa'il (3/369):

"Congratulating the kuffaar on their religious festivals is haraam to the extent described by Ibn al-Qayyim because it implies that one accepts or approves of their rituals of kufr, even if one would not accept those things for oneself. But the Muslim should not aceept the rituals of kufr or congratulate anyone else for them, because Allaah does not accept any of that at all, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

"If you disbelieve - indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves it for you"[AzZumar 39 - verse 7]

and

"This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion" [Al Ma'idah 5 - verse 3]

So congratulating them is forbidden, whether they are one’s colleagues at work or otherwise.

If they greet us on the occasion of their festivals, we should not respond, because these are not our festivals, and because they are not festivals which are acceptable to Allaah. These festivals are innovations in their religions, and even those which may have been prescribed formerly have been abrogated by the religion of Islaam, with which Allaah sent Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to the whole of mankind. Allaah says  (interpretation of the meaning):

"Whoever seeks a religion other than Islaam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers." [Aal ‘Imraan 3:85]

It is haraam for a Muslim to accept invitations on such occasions, because this is worse than congratulating them as it implies taking part in their celebrations.

Similarly, Muslims are forbidden to imitate the kuffaar by having parties on such occasions, or exchanging gifts, or giving out sweets or food, or taking time off work, etc., because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them." Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyah said in his book Iqtidaa’ al-siraat al-mustaqeem mukhaalifat ashaab al-jaheem: "Imitating them in some of their festivals implies that one is pleased with their false beliefs and practices, and gives them the hope that they may have the opportunity to humiliate and mislead the weak."

Whoever does anything of this sort is a sinner, whether he does it out of politeness or to be friendly, or because he is too shy to refuse, or for whatever other reason, because this is hypocrisy in Islaam, and because it makes the kuffaar feel proud of their religion.

Then Suhaib Webb added "It is reported with authentic chains that Ali (ra) celebrated the Persian New Year, even eating ice cream with Imam Abu Hanifa's relative"

I asked one of the Mashayakh about this and quote him the statement of the European Fatwa Council reported by this Suhaib Webb without mentioning the name of Suhaib Webb, and the Shaykh said:

"This wrong. Ali, may Allah be pleased with him never celebrated such a kafir feast. This is a lie! He ate from the sweet that was given to him as a gift. As for this council, I do not know about them and it is obvious that they are affected by living among the Kafir or trying to give fatwa that pleases the masses. Real scholars like Ibn Taimiyah, Bin Bazz and Ibn Othaimeen had said differently."

The President of this "European Fatwa Council" is Yusuf Al Qardawi a big Innovator who allowed suicide bombing, music, and also asking forgiveness for those who died upon disbelief...So not surprising that they gave this misguided "fatwa". For more information about Al Qardawi, just click HERE inshAllah.

The last point that he said:

"Most importantly, a person should ask those who use words like "haram" "kufur" "Halal" and "encouraged" about their religious training. Yelling and over blown emotionalism does not equal training and scholarship."

I'll answer to him with what Shaykh Rabi' Al Madkhalee (hafidhuhullah) said:

"Do not be deceived that a caller to falsehood is praised, has degrees or a high status in the life of this world, because this is of no significance. What is of significance is whether his speech is in accordance to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may the Salaat and Salaam be upon him, and what his righteous Caliphs and companions were upon – may Allaah be pleased with them all."

********************

To finish inshAllah, Suhaib Webb is one of those who signed the "Pledge of Mutual Respect and Cooperation" upon Falsehood. I realised that in UK, anyone can be called "Mufti" for nothing, wallahi they don't know what is a Mufti and a Scholar!!!

"O Messenger of Allah! He said: "Then keep away from all those sects even if you have to bite upon the root of a tree, until death overtakes you and you are in that state."
